It is likely you are sharing too many files. The servers have a limited capacity (memory) to index files so they limit the number each user may list.

can it be firewall, im not sure if this can effect connectivity but try it anyway. forward tcp 4662 or udp 4672 and see if this help you connect to servers any faster.
