Dvd Riping Raw Data

    i want to use a CD-RW to RIP RAW DATA from a DVD and then send it to a friend and he can burn it to a DVD using a DVD-R, i can do that.

    also if i can rip the RAW DATA from CD-RW, can i play that RAW data on my PC????

    You can not rip raw data with any kind of cd drive must be a dvd drive. The lasers are different.

    you cant read DVD without a drive designed for a DVD. This is because the CD Drives lack the ability to focus the laser to the degree which is required to read a DVD. Especially the Dual layer DVDs.

    I guess we must beat this point home. While I'm at it, I'll say that you also cannot burn cd's without a CDRW and you cannot burn a DVD-R or the like without a DVD burner
