WinDVD, is a great DVD software player, and has full dolby sound options.

Also the same company that makes WinDVD , "Intervideo" make an add-on for XP, which plugs into mediaplayer and allows you to use mediaplayer for DVD playback, without the need of a DVD decoder card, which would normally be needed in order to play a DVD through mediaplayer, as XP has DVD support. Plus you get MP3 ripping software too.

goto http://www.intervideo.com download and enjoy. You have to register and pay, but believe me its worth it.

I run Power Dvd and it works great and with no problems,Try installing the latest codec's it should resolve your problems.

Another great program for watching Dvd's is the GDIVX player you can go here to get it http://www.gdivx.com/ .

This will play Dvd's, Avi, Vcd's, SVcd's, dat files and more.

To learn how to rip Dvd's go here http://www.divx-digest.com this site has it all players, codecs, tutorials and more and is well worth the visit.
