I wish to backup all my cdr's onto a couple of dvd's but I am slightly confused with the selection available. What is the difference between the + or - disks, dvd r or dvd rw's?
    Many thanks.

if i remember correctly, the only real difference is compatibility with other DVD-ROM drives and DVD players. not 100% sure though.

I have a dual-format burner, merely because I didn't want to have to choose. :p I also find that, at least in the U.S. now, DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW media costs exactly the same.

that and the burners pretty much cost the same as if you were to buy a single format burner of one or the other. lol.

iirc, it's a little easier to get +R of good quality. Much more flooding of the market with crappy -r media.
