Dual boot xp & 98

    hey guys, i have prob with dual booting. I installed winxp in c: then i decided to install win98 to e: (1 hard disk but in different partition). I cant boot to win98 saying wat himem error.... i'm wonderin y is it

    my boot.ini is:
    [boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
    e:\="Windows 98"

    Is it correct?? plz reply asap.... 10q

    Did you install 98 first or XP first?

    You should install the older OS first, then install the second one. Then all is Happy.
     
  4. 98 has to go in first on first drive, then xp where ever else you want it.
    98 after will change boot sector and mess all up or gets lost cause 98 doesn't use a loader like xp(NT) does
    xp second then ntloader does what it needs to keep both working and will give you the choice of what to boot to when it starts
