Downloads-Resume

I use Fresh Downloads to download from the Internet. However, I only have a modem connection, as Broadband isn't available in my area. When downloading from some sites Resume is not supported, and often I find that I download quite a large part of the file, only to lose it if my connection fails. Two questions. What happens to the part download? and Is there anyway to make a Resume available?

Resume is not made available on certain servers and there's nothing the client can do about it.
If you're downloading a big file, you should try and find a mirror that does support resume.

when you get this small problem"resume is not supported:
just go to FileMirrors and then type the last part of the URL.
for example we want to get XP SP1(http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/SP/SP1/WXP/en-us/xpsp1_en_x86.exe)
but resuming is not supported
go to that site and type xpsp1_en_x86.exe
so you will get more mirrors like this http://www.filemirrors.com/search.src?file=xpsp1_en_x86.exe&size=140440152
