Direct X 9.0 Beta

I just recently installed Direct X 9.0 beta, and I get constant, but random freezes in just about every game... Even Counter-Strike... I looked all over, and I was wondering if there is a way to reinstall 8.1.. because right now, 9.0 is pretty lame, and really, really unstable
