Alright, so I've noticed XP doesn't play the sound of your phone or whatever when you're connecting to the internet on 56k. That might not be such a bad thing, but how could I turn it on if I wanted?

Go into your network connections. Right click your isp, then configure the modem. :D

It depends on you modem. Some have a little speaker on board and go from very quiet to ear splittingly loud.

Others use directX to make the noise. there is normally a Control panel option for your modem so you can turn this on or off.

You can enter code directly into the extra command line on the modem properties page, sorry cant remember code :(

But most people switch it off anyway!
