dial modem.....i don´t want it to dial by itself...how?

i have a dial up modem......and every time a open a program that uses internet or needs to be on line my Modem dials up by itself.......and i don´t want that to happend........how can i change the settings so my Modem only dial up when i say so........??

Go to Internet options --> Connections and check the option 'Never choose a connection' (or something similar, got a Dutch XP version)

Go to the program that give you the dial up problem & check their options. In IE go to tools/internet options/connections. Tick 'never dial a connection'. There is a similar one in outlook.
