one day i had installed AOL program and it did not work so i have deleted it and went with freeserve. Now there is AOL icon remaining on my desktop and it will not go. If i right click on it, it gives me Open, Explore and shortcut. Open gives me file not found. Explore give me white page with all other icons from the desktop. Can somebody please tell me how to delete it from the desktop please. By the way it is Windows XP. Cheers. Xaz

try to delete all the register settings from aol with some sort of regcleaner. try booting in safemode and deleting it, or try do do it from a dos prompt.

Open notepad. Go to file & navigate to the offending file. Highlight & delete. That is suppose to work but no one will get back & say yay or nay.
