Dead Printer Port?

I have this problem where everytime I stick a 25pin printer cable into my printer port, my computer stalls and if it's in there already the computer won't even boot up. The printer port was working like 5 months ago....

The board I have is an ABIT KR7A

I've tried 3 different DB25 cables and all had the same result.

TIA

is this with or without a printer on the other end of the cable?

if with, try taking the printer off to make sure the printer isn't what's causing a short or something.

if without, try changing the parrallel port settings in your bios.

Just for the heck of it look into the connectors on the computer, on the cable (both ends) and the printer. Make sure no pins are bent and that nothing crawled in and died.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
