The article is reffering to the spot market price, not the retail price.
Actually, they are trying to create a DDR buying frenzy (with the scare tactic that the price will be going up on regular DDR) because the DDR II will be coming out soon and they don't want to be stuck with old technology. Wait till DDR II is out and you will see regular DDR prices drop.
