Dad Playing Games On My PC (Prank Help)

pop in a version of live cd linux. But not something pretty something like.. knopix std hehe it wil be great fun no hassle and just take the cd out after the comp shuts down and it will be back to normal. hehe

Switch the Windows Startup and Shutdown splash screens.

1. Back up the following files to a floppy or "safe" folder: C:LOGO.SYS and C:WINDOWSLOGOS.SYS
2. Change the attributes for LOGO.SYS and LOGOS.SYS - turn off read-only.
3. Change the name of LOGO.SYS to LOGOS.SYS
4. Change the name of LOGOS.SYS to LOGO.SYS

When your "victim" boots up the machine, he'll get the "It is now safe to shutdown your computer" message, and the startup screen on shutdown. Your victim's machine may not have a LOGO.SYS file. If not, make a copy of LOGOS.SYS, save it as LOGO.SYS, and you'll get the shutdown menu on startup.

^^ That only works on 9x systems. On NT-based systems, you need to reshack ntoskrnl.exe and logonui.exe to change those screens. Too much work for a simple prank. :D

That is evil. I hated having my account not able to change some registry values, even though I am in the Admin group.

Just call me Dr. Evil

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
