crossplatform allows file sharing???

hi, i would like to know does crossplatform allows file sharing?
lets say i'm doing a crossplatform chat(linux & windows) using JAVA language.

Can file sharing be implemented in this kind of chats? Any proft to support this?

Yes it's definately possible. Just open a socket and send the data from the file through, or whatever connection routines you are using.

n i've read on some websites, do i really need to use java.net to support it? or jus normal java?

Normal Java will do. You say you're doing a chat app? Haven't you allready encountered sockets?? You can use streams with the sockets, look into it that way.
