Shouldn't affect anything where XP is installed but having some USB devices plugged in while reinstalling probably will cause problems. I usually unplug all devices to reinstall. Also make sure you do a fresh install & not a repair.

ps the boot.ini file would be in your H drive.

Last called : should I do a fresh install so that it goes back to normal 'c' drive or just do an 'upgrade' instal over the present on ??Gonna do it tonight.

Check this if you have usb drives connected at boot unhook them and see if windows loads then. Sometimes with usb drives connected the bios will try to load windows from the usb devices at boot and can't.

Look in the bios "Advanced bios features/ boot seq & floppy setup" at
"first/second/third/boot other device" set boot other device to "NO" if it's set to yes.

See how that works.

On the reinstall if you have to go that far it would be best to do a fresh install and with the usb drives disconnected. I wouldn't do a repair install.

Okay, got it done today ! I found the culprit ! It was my slave drive..I think its going.Disconnected it and everything ran well ,no hitch..no glitch..but I did a fresh install anyway just to clear my mind off.Thanks guys for all the support..thats why I love this forun so much......
