When trying to replace either the shell32.dll or my recycling bin icon since using sp1. it doesnt work. it just stays the same after rebooting.. is there anyway to do either of these?
If you have changed systemfiles before you know that it is not enough to change them in System32. Because of Windows file protection, you had to change, rename or delete them in dll-cache,too. It seems that after SP1 the backups for the new files are no longer in dll-cache but in C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386 . So you have to look there, too.
is there anyway to change the boot screen other than using bootxp? cause that programg is junk and when you change that file now, you can't get back into windows
There will be a SP1 compatible version of BootXP available from tomorrow on. Never used it and never tried to hack ntoskrnl.exe. I think it is not worth to risk messing up your system to change a screen you only see a few seconds. (Perhaps I'd think different if I wouldn't like the original)
Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
