djmorgan the 640 number refer to the middle numbers in the Registered User: box under right click>>> My Computer>>>Properties

Thanks, but sorry I'm a bit thick, I have a 640! am I meant to or am I a crook?

Sorry for the late reply, im up to my neck in exams

The guide is for if you loose your XP key , nothing more, nothing less.

There was nothing mentioned about using a keygen or whatever else they are using at the moment....

I try to keep the front news page with all the up to date news , tips etc , i think it would have been a different issue if we posted on the Keygens etc

Changing a CD key is not illegal in anyway...

:)

Thank you Waddy !!!

We (especially I) Appreciate you and your wonderful Site.

On the Stolen Corp (Devil's Own) the WPA is ALWAYS:

555274-640-000035623xxx<----the last three numbers rotate around by changing the product key BUT SP1 is supposed to be programmed to be wary of "640" as it changes if you clean install or (get this) "pretend to register than cancel after the wpa changes" in other words the product key is only part of what they will be blocking.

Once you clean install most all of the WPA numbers change. OR if you "register offline up to the WPA part and don't send to MS"

Start>Run regwiz /r
It also helps if you've changed your hardware and since you're doing a new key may as well update that WPA as well.

WOW! I thought xp home and pro can be had for 80-150 dollars. This is cheap money to own the best os out there. My word if your going to steal do it big time not this childish petty stuff!

Thanks for that explanation about 640 in this dept, we have 7 machines running legit corporate keys, Have the certificate in front of me right now.

Of course the PID is not visible until input but with all machines the "My compute>Properties" shows the PID all have '640' but no where near the number you detailed and of course I'm not going to detail the number here.

This makes sense, for the corporate key, for what I have read is that the Devilsown keys were in actual fact real corporate keys.

Still it was only of interest, if SP1 doesn't install we'll sue MS :D

djmorgan have your Legit Corp editions got the same PID as the Devilsown release ?

No I don't think so, the only common part is the 640 number all the other numbers seem to be 100's of thousands away, although I don't know what the Devils own PID is, if it's like the one mentioned previously then, as I said, only the 640 is common.

Excuse my ignorance, but where is the guide you're talking about?

Wait... let me get this right.

In the case that you lose your CDKey, this guide will not assist you in retrieving this CDKey. It changes the existing CDKey to another CDKey which you have.

Waddy argues that this is done merely in the case that you lose your CDKey. But will Win XP Pro Corp stop operating because u don't know your CDKey? You already entered your CDKey on install. And if you have another CDKey then you don't need to worry about changing the existing key until your next format. If you lost your CDKey the first time i think that you will be cautious enough to keep your "second legit CDKey" in a safe place until you need to format.

Now let me get this straight. Someone give me a real life situation in where you are required to change CDKey AFTER you have succesfully installed it.

The only reason to change your existing WORKING CDKey is that you want to install SP1 with a pirated WinXP. Stop being hypocritical about your anti-piracy policy.

mbunny;

Grow up you make me embarresed to be an Australian you have had the same whinge on every post.

For real life example see my previous posts, aside from that get off your high horse, this is not your forum and the proprietors can do what they bloody like with it.

You have a choice; don't come here if you don't like the policy, start your own forum with your own rules.

Well I inherited a very good computer with XP Pro installed, this was not from a retailer but a work environment, their was/is a lot of sensitive stuff on the machine.

It has a corporate load of xp yet we have no disk or data due to the previous company going belly up, we have our own corporate keys, but no IT guy so thanks to the post we now feel safe with this install as it has our keys and we had not lost data due to a format we were faced with doing.

Your real life situation.... may i ask why you needed to change your cdkey???

will your winxp inexplicably stop working because its using an old legitimate cdkey from your old business?

The whole point of my rantage is because of the work that the moderators have done to stop people from advocating piracy. Whoop ti doo, waddy didn't mention anything about a keygen, he just merely showed you how to do it.

An analogy for you, take this cd key changing tutorial and liken it to a gun. Here's a gun, this is how you fire it, now find your own bullets.

This tutorial is in violation of the EULA that you have agreed to when installing WinXP. Sure, read it but don't use it.....

Edit: BTW, i have absolutely no issue with the anti-piracy policy, it is a rather good policy.

Great analogy

Just to pee on a bonfire or 2...
Were software wholesalers & sell a lot of licence only copies of XP for corprate use. So the how to thread is ideal for me as you never know when your gunna get asked to do a serial change on a workstation. If a customer rang up and wanted to buy just the licence to go 'legal' then it's a lot easier to follow the guide instead of reinstalling XP.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
