Im sure a lot of you know about this tweak for your cdrom/dvd drives:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\control\FileSystem\CDFS

    32x 1792 00,07,00,00 00000700
    40x 2240 c0,08,00,00 000008c0
    etc

I cant get the tweak to work. In XP the values are in HEX, and Sandra CD-Rom benchmark says the prefetch is optimized for a 13x cd-rom. I've tried a few different values, but none work at all. Has this tweak changed at all with XP from 98/ME??

    Thanks in advance,
    Justin

    try this

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem\CDFS

Look for that registry key, if not there, we must create a new key, then add the following values

CacheSize, this must be added as a binary value, then type in this value: ff ff 00 00

Prefetch, this key must be added as a DWORD value, then type in this value: 4000 hex

PrefetchTail, this key must be added as a DWORD value, then type in this value: 4000 hex

Both are valid, but the DWORD way is the way to go.

I tried those settings Qumahlin, but Sandra still says optimized for 13x, and only scores 1600 or so for my 32x. Back in Win98 (Win2000 also i believe) I didnt have these problems, and was scoring in the 2400 range.
