cd burner not burning at true speed

    My cd burner is a 24x and it will only burn at 4x...how do I fix this?

    Have you got the latest drivers for it? Go to the makers site & have a look.

    it came with my dell...I think it's a NEC

    Are you using disks that allow you to write at a faster speed than 4x?

    well I feel stupid...this kid gave me a cd to burn him something and I didn't look at the speed of the disk...my fault...it is 4x...thanks guys sorry for wasting your time
