can't uninstall program

this is weird;

I hard reset my pocket pc, so everything is supposed to be wiped, right?

I guess not.

I'm trying to reinstall a sprint pcs connection manager, it says the program needs to be uninstalled, offers to do it, I'm surprised there is obviously a file left over from the hard reset, but I push yes, of course

nothing

I go into the pocket pc connection manager, go to uninstall programs, sure enough, there it is...actually there are two...I think I had an old version and had to install a second one

so I uninstall from the connection manager, I then went to reinstall.

same message, the program allready exists and needs to be uninstalled.

I go back to the connection manager, this time there is no program left to uninstall.

any ideas?
