Black Screen during Install

Ive installed XP in the past, but now I just get a black screen. From what I read, it could be a graphical issue between nVidia card VIA, or some other hardware issue. MS Help Desk was helpless. Any real ideas? I've tried ripping out all my cards, install from CD and HD, Bios and all that stuff. I swapped the video card and the hard drive. still nothing.

Black screen as in the motherboard isn't even completing the POST process? Or black screen when it starts to boot to the hard drive?

The Answer

In case anyone cared, the Abit KT7 with an nVidia Card and Windows XP equals disaster. I tried a GF4 and GF2 with no luck. Swap out to Voodoo 3 and all was well. Now I get the joys of every other incompatability under the sun.... not to mention the whole "I forgot" BS that XP is known for.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
