what kind of frills are we talking about?

note: i dont need RAID, i dont even know what it is.. sync'd ddr doesnt bother me, it doesnt do that much anyway.. as long as this m/b takes 8mb buffer'd hdds, takes 512mb PC2700, and lets me use my K7 processor, and upgrade to 2100+ im high as a kite!

It then is the mobo for you! By frills I mean a BIOS like Abit/Asus for overclocking (i.e., SoftMenu III).

kt333 and kt400 have to do with just the memory. If your using PC2700 kt333 will be fine although you could also use kt400.

the old k6's use a different socket (socket 7?). anything after those are socket A.

kt400 has more/better features. and if you were to run pc2700 in both boards, the kt400 would yield slightly better results with it's revised northbridge. kt400A will be out very soon if it isn't already.
