Avg plus ?

Hi, Please excuse my lack of knowledge here, after looking around
for antivirus programs, I think I will use Avg, now I'm looking for something similar to Zonealarm which I have downloaded,
but I have have read a lot of negative remarks about it, and the fact
that it is so hard to remove it from your computer, I dont know what to call Zone alarm is it a firewall, this is what it is that makes
it hard for me to search for a similar program.
Can anyone help with a an an alternitive program, or even what
catagory Zone alarm falls under.

Zone Alrm is a firewall...you are correct. While you are looking into it to decide which way to go try using the xp firewall. That will give you protection till you decide what to go with. XP's firewall only blocks incoming not outgoing but it is the one I use.

Right click network on the desktop/properties. Now right click your isp/properties/advanced. Tick the xp firewall. You can turn it back off if you go with another firewall.

Your right Zonealarm does get a lot of criticism and much of it is well warranted criticism.

I recommend you take a look at Kerio 4.

I use Sygate Pro and have been very happy with it. It is easy to use and configure and gives very good security. The XP firewall does not protect against incoming events It is a one-way firewall.
