If you dont like the current rules about the sigs and avatars then make your case why the rules should be lifted or modified. But make sure your case is solid and not just a reference to " I think they" or "I want"

Someone should a add a feature to this forum that enables a user to disable avatars and sigs and this issue will be over in no time.

or even create a "P.C. O-Meter" and when you upload your avatar to this site, you can give it a rating.. people who choose only to see PG Avatars see Thumper and Bambi, while the "PRO FREEDOM OF SPEACH" people see the XXX rated Thumper getting banged by Bambi, and Bambi rubbing her numbs together... ? (a mod will probably edit this)

FREEDOM OF SPEACH, FREEDOM FROM PERSECUTION. maybe that just flys in America though. (which it does, only when the government approves it!.. damn government, always a step ahead)

okay, haven't I read this post already? yeah, I have, cause it's been posted 10 times already....

have anything orignal to say?

how about equality amongst members, I don't care either way, allow it or not, but if you are going to allow it, do it for everyone, and not just some members.

3. There has to be a line, I think it has been set by now. Geffy's sigs are not considered porn (yet?), breast caressing animations are. It's the democratic majority right now. Live with it or leave.

I hate to be picky here, but a website isn't run by democracy, its' run by who owns the site, sure, they take into consideration what people have to say, but in the end, it's not a democracy.

I think the things should be disabled if for nothing else, than to eliminate extra bandwidth useage, I never use an avatar on any forum or images in my sig, it makes it too hard to read in addition to slowing loading times.

Wah PK. I made a simple mistake of not knowing that only admins can change avatars and sigs, since nowhere did it say only they can. Jewelzz was the only one that took the time to post that information, insteading of making "semi" name calling remarks like you did. Why state only half the remark, PK? when you say elimiate extra bandwidth, are you refering to the Users bandwidth or the sites?

Just about everyone uses off site linked sigs, so that doesnt affect the site bandwidth as afaik the site tells your browser where to look and your browser find the images.

i agree, even though im for freedom of expression.. its all about who owns/runs/is responcible for the site.

i do not agree. keep the avatars, and sigs.. it creates a more relaxed atmosphere, and gives character. high-speed internet users dig deep on media intense, colorful, complex websites. Its a massive reason why its provided to common folk.

Geffy, I've made reference more than once to it slowing loading times, thus I'm talking about bandwidth as to how it relates to loading time.

I agree that sigs are a good thing, but perhaps images in sigs aren't a good thing. You can express yourself with words. Maybe the site should only allowed pre-aproved avatars from an avatar bank stored on the site? sure this takes away creativity, but leaves some personality, and users could always ask for something to be added, it would just have to be pre-approved.

For the record, I whined about the type of signatures in general, it wasn't just because you had a male one, the female ones people had/have were 'over the top' as well.

People can now request not to see my sigs on an IP basis. I am pretty sure that it works.
The only thing I am not sure how to do is get the hostnames, and then block the images from being sent that way (for dialup users) if anyone has any ideas, then please let me know

The link to not see them is in my sig

I cant say how many people will go for it, but the option is now there

yeah tryin to sort the php so it blocks certain images only I think would be difficult, for me anyways

click the sig info link and tell me there which ones you wanted to block, if I know which ones people dont want then I can remove those.

dialup users if you wish not to see my sigs get Mozilla and block all images from my address
