Every since I reinstalled Windows XP, my audio performance has been fairly poor. When the processor is working at max speed, it seems as if the sound is placed at a second priority...it's gets scratchy and distorted while the processor is REALLY working for a few seconds...not to say that the sound was perfect before...it just paused completely when it had to - no annoying distortions while it tries to force Windows to play. This is especially annoying for my startup sound because it ruins it! {=( Even after setting MEdia Player and/or RealOne Player to Above Normal or Highest processor priority, it seems like Windows ignores is. In general, I think that the way Windows handles all audio is what the problem is...how would I fix this (short of reformatting and reinstalling everything)? Thanks guys.
