ATI Disabling Macrovision...????????

Got a friend who has an ATI 7500 AIW and is having problems playing copy protected media through "video in". Is there a way to disable Macrovision MVD codec so that he can get rid of this problem. He tried installing the Plutonium xp 8.1 drivers he snagged from http://www.driverheaven.com - which were supposed to eliminate this problem ---- no luck. He has a vcr hooked up into the "video in" and when he tries to rip a copy protected vhs tape, the picture continually fades in and out. I don't have a clue cause I don't have or have never used an ATI AIW video card. Has anyone run into this problem before???? And does anyone have any suggestions?????

He also reformatted w/ clean install of Win_XP w/ SP1 last week and this didn't help either.

Reformating ain't gonna help. That's what Macrovision does, it pumps the pic. This may work.
