After patching Battlefield 1942 te programme will now not run.

It starts up then terminates immediately with no error message.

The solution will be to re-install I'm sure but in general terms why does this happen? What has gone wrong with the programme to cause this???

I was thinking maybe a path got messed up, but that seems OK...

P.S. I posted something similar in "Games" but the post got messsed up a bit and the title is misleading, please delete that one!

If you patched then this probably won't work......but we are talking computers here. :D

Have you tried to open it in compatability mode?

Do you have a legal copy of your game? Sometimes software makers will include a "call home" feature that will check with their website if you have a valid serial number. The software shuts down if you have an unauthorized version.

Another problem may be a bad memory chip. I had this problem until I isolated one of my RAM modules and replaced it. No problems after that.

If you had said that this was an antivirus program, then you might have a virus that prevents the AV program from starting. Again, I had this problem and it took me hours to undo the damage.

Hope this helps.

I just got through solving this problem with photoshop 7 on a computer. The app would start then disappear from the picture. Reinstalls wouldn't solve problem. finally ran spybot S&D and found some vermin. deleted it, removed all mention of Photoshop from registry. rebooted and reinstalled. Everything worked. Had similar problem a while back with all of the MS Office apps. Same solution.

Also make sure that you are completely up to date with the patches. BF1942 and mods have a nasty habit of loading the game, and right before you get into the actual server you tried to join, it boots you out to desktop. This is due to an under patched version.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
