Application Hang

Has this happened to you?? Start an application such as Quicken or Roxio, the box appears in the tool tray but the application does not appear on the desktop. The only way to get WinXP to respond as normal is to restart the Computer. I amrunning as Administrator. Any suggestions?

Hit ctrl+alt+del and see if you can identify if it's running already. If it is, kill it and try to open it again.
