AOpen 12X DVD ROM

My friend has AOPEN DVD Rom but cannot get it to play ANY dvd-r discs , it just says Please insert disc. Any idea what the problem is? It will play originals no problem, Do i need a firmware update or a new driver??

I dont think thats an Application question, but maybe youre trying DVD's that are the wrong region?

No afraid not, these and data disks and they won't play either, it just won't recognise that there is a disc inserted

Aopen 12 Speed is 3 years + old technology that took ages during "read from" attempts when copying cds when I used it in 2000, switched to LG x16 speed DVD Rom and had no further problem.
Expect that it would have problems reading DVDrs
