I turned on my computer to get a VERY loud beep, it didnt sound like the normal beep from the system speaker...then the computer shut off... any help? Rep points for those who do. the sound seems to be coming from my PSU.

know how you feel man... if you are getting beeps from your PSU you must have something special for a PSU! Are you sure that's not just where your case/mobo spkr is?

Do you know what make your PSU is or more about your machine, like make/model for us to get a handle?

  5. check if all the wires are plugged in good and if your graphics card is plugged/responding good in good, you can't have a beep coming out of anywhere else but from the tower speaker, power supplies doesn't have a speaker neither do mobos

no, i just turn the computer on, it makes almost a screaching noise, and then shuts off. I have a PSU on the way now...so hopefully that will fix the problem. I will give you rep points anyway.

The PSU can "beep" if there is something seriously wrong with it, but not because it has a speaker or anything. More like it has some short circuit, but it's to small to cause the fuse to cut the power. So if the PSU beeps at all, it's probably serioulsy broken.
