The official SPeedY_B guide on how to b0rk MSNm

    Step.1
Grope the internet for your very own personal copy of Resource Hacker, or simply click here :)

    Step.2
Pop open your fresh copy of ResHack, then click File > Open
In the dialog open the file C:\Program Files\Messenger\msgslang.dll

    Step.3
    To Change Client Name
    • Click the "String Table" Folder Icon in the left panel
    • Click the "1" Folder Icon
    • Click the "1033" Icon
    • Then on the right change the "Windows Messenger" String to whatever you want

To Change The 'Has Signed In' Box
    • Click the "String Table" Folder Icon in the left panel
    • Click the "2" Folder Icon
    • Click the "1033" Icon
    • On the right change the 30, "%s\nhas just signed in." to what you want to appear when someone signs in

    Change The Message format
    • Click the "String Table" Folder Icon in the left panel
    • Click the "127" Folder Icon
    • Click the "1033" Icon
    • on the right change 2030, "%1 says:" to what you want to appear

    Change Other Aspects
To change other text strings simply use CTRL+F to find the original string then replace it with the text you want, or simply browse all the string tables to find something interesting ;)

    Enjoy...

    Some Screenies for you...

    Client Name
yes i know, i'm using an Ooold version of MSNm (due to a recent format & re-install of XP), the tweak works on the newer versions too tho.

    **** Has Signed in
In mine i've simply removed the "has signed in" part to leave only the name.

    Message Format
I've taken away the "Says:" part and added brackets around the nick name instead.

    Wow, I'd forgot i wrote this :)

Do you mean so the name and text is on the same line?

I'm not sure I ever found a way to do that, I'll have a look into it though.
