AIM and my Privacy Issues!

I use aim a lot and want to find out if there is a way I can find out who im talking to. Is there a way to find out an ip and find out who that person is, if its a friend playing a joke or really someone I know? Are there any other tools I can use at my disposal to find out who is they say they are?

UNless you can get them to direct connect you cant get there ip

they should have a /whois fuction inside of these messengers, I mean they do for mirc.
