Advice please.

    Please can anyone advise me on a good HDD Military stye or Government style wiper/cleaner for the free space on a hard drive.

    NAV2002 has a file wipe function; government wipe, takes a while tho, but its safe

    any shredder does the job, but you also have to find some hidden files, that can only be found in dos...I'm on a very slow connection for the next few days, so I can't hunt around for links.

    kirrie, go to the security section, and look for my post titled everyone must read, or something like that.

    if you want a free shreddder, go to pc magazine, they ahve an excellant small program for free.

    Thanks guys, but it is only a FREE SPACE wiper that I need.
    Norton used to have one on the version for Windows 95/ME.
    but not on the latest versions ie; 2002/2003.

    ah..I think I know what you mean..you mean to bring all the files together, so there's no free space between files.

    norton speed disc still does that.

    also, al little better, is "perfect disc"...perfect has a 90 day trial

    Kirrie2001 - If you do a Google search for Free Space Wipers you'll almost certainly find a downloadable trial version of one of the top shredders.
