Activating XP

When you install xp initially you have to enter the product installation key then activate xp with another number. The question is........If you format the computer without making any hardware changes can you still use the activation number from the first install? Why do you have to go through activation again if no changes are made?

Good stuff. I have not had the need to format yet. Good ol xp. Activation number is tucked away safely.

Save the wpa file and replace it after your reinstall Windows XP and your activation will be preserved.

C:\Windows\System32\wpa.dbl
