At my place of employment, we have a helpdesk database on one of our network servers. When I try to place a shortcut on my desktop pointing to the database and then open it a message opens up and says the database is "read only." I have admin rights so I remove the "read only" and add can add to the database and save my additions. Now my question is, if I reboot my changes are lost. What can I do to make a shortcut to this database that is on the network server on my desktop and be able to make changes? Also, when someone updates the database it automatically updates my shortcut?

Well for changing the file attributes and loading the database, you could write a batch file that would run "attrib.exe -R filename" and then loads the database.
