A7N8X Deluxe fails to load Xp desktop..

it powers on nice... with fail safe bios defaults.. but i get this blue screen when the desktop is supposed to bootup.. saying "windows has shut down to prevent further damage".. i had XP working previously on my K7 Dragon Plus.. now i switched to a A7N8X Deluxe.and i'm getting blue screens.. isntead of a desktop. plz help

if you can boot into safe mode, try and install the nforce2 drives that came with the mainbord. also you will have to uninstall the old mainbord drivers.

Silly question maybe, but have you reinstalled XP from scratch when you switched mobo's or did you just swap the boards. Precautions would have been needed if the latter (driver uninstallation among others)

Edit: Here I posted a link to another forum explaining how to switch mobo's without needing a reinstall...

it would be best to reinstall Xp
you will get less problems that way

heh.. i'll try the safe mode thing... then try to switch mobos.. and uninstall all the drivers.. and if that doesnt work. i'll format.. =(
