A good wireless router but not to $$$

I think that pretty much, Belkin, Netgear, and Linksys are all about the same quality wise.
I would also say go to compusa.
My desktop wifi card which isnt a name brand (ZYXEL) is at 128mbps, works great, and i paid 10 dollars for it at compusa on one of their sales.

Ok for now i just got the linksys befw11s4, i needed something fast, ill upgradfe it in a few weeks..anyways, i got it all up and running, i have verizon dsl, so the router verizon gavce me connects to the linksys, i want to go into the linksys program (192.168.1.1) but that takes me into the westell (verizons router)..how can i get into my linksys??

Try different ip?
I think my belkin is 192.168.2.1...
I thought my linksys was the 192.168.1.1 but i cant remember...
If it isnt a diff ip then i havent a clue...

On the WRT54G, the default IP is 192.168.1.1. Look in the instructions that came with the befw11s4 and see if there is another IP in there.

Vanquished...going above and beyond the call of duty.

Lol
Actually i posted it before i realized you solved the problem :)

You want WPA not WEP. If you must use WEP for compatibility with older "B" cards the use 128 the bigger the better. Both can be cracked but the 128 takes a lot longer.

Is it really neccesary to have it encrypted?
Are you guys in cities?

I use WPA AES and I am in a suburb. I don't want some sicko driving up past my house in the middle of the night to download child porn.

interesting.
My house is so secluded that nobody could get the signal without driving down me driveway :)

I have tested it, I can get perfect signal in the street in front of my house.

Figured...
My house is set back like 400 feet from the street...
On a hill with lots of trees... :)

My house is probably no more than 100 feet with a fair amount of trees, but no where near what it would take to block the signal.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
