Please can someone give me any good modem tweaks which actually work aswell ???

Sorry, but usually it is not possible to tweak a modem. Such things as provider limitations and line limitations stop that from being possible. However, you can always get a provider that uses compression... I actually got my 55Kbps slow ass modem to download a file at 10.9 kb/s (!!!) This was at one occation, with a nearby server but anyway, I was "thrilled"
