3D Mark 2001 SE - What score can I expect?

Hi There...

I've got an Athlon XP 2200+ and a GF4 Ti4600 graphics card. I just wondered what kind of score I should be seeing from 3D Mark? I've looked at the site, but there are LOTS of results above mine! I'm currently getting around 10,300.

Both the card and the CPU are at standard speeds, no overclocking at all.

that sound about right... the average for your card is perhaps a little more than you have got...

perhaps with overclocking for benches only you might be able to get much higher scores... maybe around 11500-12000...

also remember a lot of the tops scores are acheived with special cooling... some people can take up their video cards core clocks to FAR above manufacturer specs with special cooling... if you are air cooling that is a fair score indeed... most games you only need like 3000 and over to get good visual quality and gameplay...

Hi with my system - P4 2.4, Asus P4S533 mobo, Leadtek GF4 Ti 4600, 512 PC2100 - I get 10867 with no overclocking. I have found that the chip and board you are using (in my experience) are quite unstable. This may just be because I had a damaged chip or mobo - but I now think that intel is the best bet. THIS IS NOT MEANT TO OFFEND ANYONE THAT HAS AN AMD CHIP OR A KT£ MOBO. JUST MY EXPERIENCE!

I've since installed the latest beta drivers for the 4600, and I now get a rather tasty score of 11,350! Sounds alot better.
