This is actually the All Tasks Control Panel from the beta which it appears was never removed.
I use this as I would rather have the folder say All Tasks (which is what it displays) instead of Godmode. All Tasks.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} |

Yeah I figured as much. However I just copied and pasted the text string. No point in changing anything until you know whether or not it'll work.

Leave it up to MS to remove something helpful like this and instead make you jump through hoops to change any settings. I've never seen such a mess to adjust simple settings as 7 has. Even easier on Linux these days (w/ Gnome/KDE really). :P

Vista has the same thing, a different string, but it gives the 64bit version of vista fits.

You can put any name in front of the string instead of Godmode.

Here are some more special folders.
Just put any name and period before the string. {00C6D95F-329C-409a-81D7-C46C66EA7F33} {0142e4d0-fb7a-11dc-ba4a-000ffe7ab428} {025A5937-A6BE-4686-A844-36FE4BEC8B6D} {05d7b0f4-2121-4eff-bf6b-ed3f69b894d9} {1206F5F1-0569-412C-8FEC-3204630DFB70} {15eae92e-f17a-4431-9f28-805e482dafd4} {17cd9488-1228-4b2f-88ce-4298e93e0966} {1D2680C9-0E2A-469d-B787-065558BC7D43} {1FA9085F-25A2-489B-85D4-86326EEDCD87} {208D2C60-3AEA-1069-A2D7-08002B30309D} {20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} {2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D} {241D7C96-F8BF-4F85-B01F-E2B043341A4B} {4026492F-2F69-46B8-B9BF-5654FC07E423} {62D8ED13-C9D0-4CE8-A914-47DD628FB1B0} {78F3955E-3B90-4184-BD14-5397C15F1EFC} |

Canonical Names of Control Panel Items: Canonical Names of Control Panel Items
Specifying a Namespace Extension's Location: Specifying a Namespace Extension's Location This is getting a tad over-hyped on the internet to the point of some overly paranoid conspiracy theorists believing this proves that there are hidden backdoors in Windows 7. The fact that someone decided to name the discovery of being able to access these features via a so-called "God Mode" stoked the hype. The use of "GodMode" in the folder names is completely unnecessary to access these items. I think the "first person" to discover this and begin reporting about it was likely partaking in a nostalgic late night marathon session of Wolfenstein 3D while hyped up on Red Bull. Btw, no offense is intended, BouncingSoul. You are simply reporting the info. This just... isn't as big a deal as most of the online reports make it out to be. MSDN is our friend.

Posts 2 and 8 were irrelevant to my overall comments and how this has been "reported" on the internet. Posts 1 and 9 merely listed GUIDs but not the matching item name or Canonical name and those GUIDs came from CNET's articles[s] and other online reports that posted them similarly.
I don't know about you but I tend to prefer info from the horse's mouth and/or supporting information from the developer of a program/OS which in this case is Microsoft. For this reason I posted the links to MSDN. Even CNET's article didn't link to MSDN which surprised me. Furthermore the related article "Windows 7 has lots of 'GodModes' (exclusive)" (Windows 7 has lots of 'GodModes' (exclusive) | Beyond Binary - CNET News) on CNET's site also neglected to provide a link to MSDN. Frankly, considering the titles of the CNET articles I would have expected there to be links to MSDN. Maybe I expected too much from them? Anyway, I posted what I did for informative purpose and because I had an opinion on the matter. |
