    Bloated ads

Ever wonder what happens when you mouse over the ATI ad too much? I've attached an image of what it looks like in Opera. Check out the number of images downloaded at the bottom, mostly from the ad.

    New mobo [ 8RDA ] - couple of questions

So long as your motherboard is backwards compatible with 4x AGP (which it should be), then I don't really see a problem with the graphics. You may want to check the voltage that your vid card needs since the "newer" AGP is of a slightly lower voltage I think. The front panel connectors shouldn't...

Severe problems with XP crash-athon....PLEASE HELP!!

sfc /scannow can be used from the command prompt while running XP. The XP CD is needed incase it asks for any files. However, I agree with sboulema. If you can't find a fix for this, I suggest backing up anything you need to that 80 GB drive and then reformatting your 6 GB system drive.

    why does my computer crash

I find it to be a good idea to dust out a computer every few months. That canned air or a nice air compressor seem to usually work quite nicely. I've had one computer screw up on me before because there was too much dust in one of the memory slots and it wasn't making good contact because of it...

    Download managers

I prefer Star Downloader. It says it integrates with Opera, but it doesn't integrate like it does with IE. In order to get the "integration" to work, you need to have it check the clipboard for URLs. When you want to download something with Star Downloader, right click on it and tell it to copy...

    Defrag Prog

I personally prefer Roxco's PerfectDisk, tho it's not free. Does the defrag right the first time and can also do "clustering". If you want, you can get a trial version from their website. The built in XP defrag program is made, in part, by Executive Software International, Inc., the same...

Try SmartFR (a.k.a Smart File Renamer).

    Network Connection Tweaks?

Not sure how much this would help, but try this out. Open Windows Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> View tab -> uncheck Automatically search for network folders and printers.

    RealOne Player Alternative?

Media Player Classic 6.4.5.6 has been recently released.

    Real One plugin

Dunno, but you may want to try out Media Player Classic. It's like WMP 6.4, just updated with a bunch of new features and it's not from Microsoft. Plus it has support for Real Media files!

    Download manager

I strongly suggest StarDownloader. It can integrate with Opera, not to mention it's one of the best downloaders IMHO.

    System Tasks Sidebar

Hmm, you can hit the folders button on the toolbar to switch between the folders pane and the common tasks pane, but not sure if it would stay that way.

    Windows XP Processes

Some services you can kill: * Computer Browser * Server - kill these 2 if you are not on a network or don't want to share files over a network * IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service - this is Windows' built in CD burning stuff. Kill it if you only use Nero or non-Roxio software. * Messenger -...

    AIDA32 listing something strange

Try cooling down your system's temperature (put it in a really cold room and blow some fans on it or somethin) and see if that temperature drops. If it stays at 80 degrees even if everything else goes down, then it's probably trying to read a sensor that doesn't exist or something.

    CMD path error

At the command prompt, type cd %SystemRoot% and see where it takes you. If it's something besides C:\Windows, then that's probably your problem. Check your windir command in System Properties -> Advanced tab -> Environment Variables.

    AIDA32 listing something strange

I don't know about yours, but I can check out my CPU temp if I go into the BIOS at boot time. I'd say to run Aida32 and check to see if that temperature is really high. If so, reboot real quick and check to see what it says in the BIOS.

    Windows programs using 100% cpu?

I was noticing this problem too. Many of my apps were taking far too long to load. I checked to see what MS said about the patch, then decided to remove it. Everything seems to be working better now.
