A new LG DVD SATA drive solved the problem, well partially as the original drive will boot on another PC but not mine, must be some incompatibility somewhere.
7 of 9 now up and running (seven being the number of times I've downloaded Windows 7 and nine being the attempts to boot the DVD from...
A slip of the tounge here... I meant, "burned the DVD immage" using nero.
However it still wont boot from my DVD drive (a SATA type) and this seems to be the problem so I updated the firmware which did not solve the issue, made sure it was was in a bootable SATA port (some on my motherboard...
For me the issue is partially solved by using Opera to download the RTM version which does not use the download manager.
Having copied the iso file (using Nero) to a DVD it will not boot from my DVD drive.
Another problem now presents itself!
It this all woth the effort I'm begining to...
Looks like there’s two issues here then, Windows 7 RTM is not available until 6th August I’ve been told… the issue surrounding the corrupt downloads is being looked into but again I’m told that they are not corrupt only that a process that should have run after the file was downloaded has not...
I've been using this software for many years, its the best on the market vai none.
I now develop apps using .NET, SQL CE and Access within a single user interface with the hep of some third party aps and a few DLL's from the mobile companies.
A great software product.
There is no option to use anything other than the download manager supplied (it cant be chaned to anything else).
The file (7100.0.090421-1700_x86fre_client_en-us_retail_ultimate-grc1culfrer_en_dvd.iso) is now downloading, its 2.36 gig (10% done).
I now have more keys to Windows 7 RTM than...
The download was from a link (from an email from Microsoft) dated 27/07/2009.
I can verify that it’s an official download of the RTM version of Windows 7 available to beta testers.
I have emailed Microsoft but have not yet received any reply.
I will now try it again without the use of...
I have now downloaded the Windows 7 RTM from the MS site three times, none of which has resulted in any file that can be recognised being placed on my PC.
The download is very large and takes about 30 min. It downloads no problem but then after its done the message “fatal error” is displayed...
Occam’s razor, yes the old laws of simplicity modified slightly by that old Start Trek aficionado Spock when stating “Jim, if you remove all that’s impossible, what your left with is the truth, no matter how improbable” (or something similar), of course this is mere conjecture and relies on the...
Are you sure that this is spelt correctly?
You sound just like me 25 years ago when I thought that I would never die, were self confident and sure, and just like the words of an old band called the “Eagles” now long forgotten I suppose, said… “An old man told me… son, don’t wade to deep... in...
Yes of course you are right however there are, as always, some usability issues not considered very often and of course “human performance (not just human computer interaction, but the larger issue)”. These subjects all fall into the realm of subjective testing and the measurements of the...
First my condolences for the loss of your job, this is always difficult to take especially when you get older. You are lucky here as you’re young and can “start again” this luxury won’t be there forever.
A previous post indicated that a good designer is born, it you have to learn it you are not...
User interfaces are about to change dramatically with the introduction of .NET3 and DirectX10 compliant hardware. This will alter the look and feel and the design process beyond recognition, the coding model (as access to the graphics cards power is now available) and it’s complexity will also...
I think that there are two totally separate issues here, one being “design” or the look and feel of the product (the user interface) and the other being the design of the core software. The former is in the eye of the beholder that latter is merely an applied logic mythology (not a science) more...
One of the most important things missing from software developers training is not how to code efficiently or to provide “pretty” interfaces, but to have an understanding of the entire process you are attempting to code. This does not rely on “managers” or “users” of the system being queried as...
It installed ok but could not access the UK national lottery as for some strange reason parental control was set to “child” by default. Took a long time to find this and my MSN Premium emails have now stopped working, but only spasmodically, strange….
:suprised:
