    uTorrent Aquired by BitTorrent

They both have put a lot of time an energy into Bittorent, it's only natural and right that they make a few dollars on it.

That comes out to running it 32 hours a day. Figure 6 hours a day and you get 27 years. I'm currently running my Panasonic at 40% brightness anyway. Figure I'll have to up it a bit in a quarter of a century.:)

Big Problem with corrupt folder...please help

Well more than corrupted you are probably infected. A few online AV scans may be in order. Try Moveonboot, it may be able to delete it. http://www.gibinsoft.net/gipoutils/fileutil/index.htm

    External HD enclosure help?

For what it's worth that's not the case, although the specs allude to similiar speeds. Plus USB drives tax the cpu much more. A Firewire drive will usually run at least 25% faster than USB2.

I bet you can't solve this one

Start over with a clean XP only install. Why troubleshoot an inferior install? Windows is twitchy enough as it is, a good foundation, free of any W98 registry remnants and overwritten W98 drivers, is the only way to go.

    Automatic updates replacements

It seems the ability to choose which update you really need would be a reason. Many of the updates do not apply to all users and may have nothing to do with my current configuration. Why add unnecessary clutter for something that does not apply?

    XviD to DVD conversion

I like the VSO products, nice results, quick conversion and you can also add subs (in srt form). Still using the older DivxToDVD (seems to work with most files, not just Divx). Unfortunatly if it's a 2 parter there is no way to join the 2 so you'll have 2 title sets and a slight pause. You can...

    upgrading to windows 98se?

It can be done of course, but I doubt if it will fix the problems she is having. Best to do a clean install, especially if it's from '99.
