Default Best portable video player for $300

I am about to drive 2600 miles as i move to LA, we where going to get a portable DVD player for my 5 yr old, but i thought a portable video player (hard drive or flash) would be better.

What solutions do you guys have.

She could use my ipod touch, but i'll be using that for music on the road, so she needs something different, i guess i could buy another.... any suggestions are appreciated, unless someone has an unlocked iphone that i can buy, then i'll give her the touch.

just abuse the return policy at best buy/walmart. Buy another ipod and return it when you get there. Buy an "open box" unit to begin with if you feel bad about it.

Why not use a laptop to play the vidoes (DVd or file)? A car power converter for it will cost a lot less than any kind of player and she can do vdieo games also.

Good place for laptop power accessories.
