Default Best British Laptop?

A question I asked a while back but never got round to buying.

Currently, for around the £1100 mark what is the best laptop I can get in Britain?

I'm keen on A DVD writer a good graphics card and Speed.

Yeah not bad, I was looking at the Sony Vaio GTR. Which has nVidia graphics in it. I've also seen some with a Radeon 9600 xt? card in but odn't remember which make

Notebooks suck, but if you insist on having one..
firstly.. http://www.apple.com/uk/ibook/ or if you must have a Windows machine, I see you've already noticed and mentioned NovaTech, two friends have notebooks from there, nice machines, would recommend them.. apart from there sales/e-mail staff, still haven't got back to me with regards to a post-christmas query. feckers. Easy enough to get hold of on the phone though

I checked out Ebuyer but their Sony's seemed to be a litle vague on the spec front.

But you're right SPeedY I don't really want a laptop but I can't take my desktop offshore! So there you are
