Laptops DO have fans. Besides the mobile CPU
are a bit different from the desktop ones. They use less power and can make themselves slower when they're not used to save even more power. This means less heat and less need for cooling.

Those laptops DO get hot!! A co-worker has a newer one and the bottom gets pretty crispy. Not to mention the air that comes out of the exhaust is almost hot enough to double as a space heater.
