    bluetooth head set/ any concerns?

My only experience with BT headset sound quality is with Motorola, H300 then H500. I compared receive quality to my Razr built-in earpiece as well as transmit quality by recording to my voicemail then playing back. The Razr has excellent audio quality. Both BT I would call adequate, not great...

The official position of Plantranics on BT SAR emmissions, and wired headsets too. http://www.plantronics.com/canada/en_US/articles/?categoryId=cat1210095&articleId=art_20060202_2257_en_US

    bluetooth head set/ any concerns?

The headset cable is shielded, maybe. That's one reason it's heavier than most. If the phones themselves were perfectly shielded and the RF energy leaked only to the inner conductors and the shielding was 100% then and only then could they legitimately promote the headsets as RF isolating. Of...

You're right. 30-200MHz VHF frequencies are considered harmless, even UHF up to about 800MHz. Then you enter the gray area. All discussion here is in the 2.4GHz neighborhood, microwave.

    Is Vista worth it?

I didn't say it's not an improvement. It is an improvement, IF it works AND is free of the security flaws we have come to know and love from MS.

    Is Vista worth it?

Well, I guess that would be an improvement. I'll wait for the jury to render their verdict, however. MS has a very reliable track record of not getting it right on their first attempt, sometimes with catastrophic results. Been there. Done that. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Okay. If you say so. I'll take a piece of those royalties. Who am I to say we shouldn't profit from media generated paranoia and mass hysteria? PM me with your real contact info and credentials. This could get interesting.

    bluetooth head set/ any concerns?

Wouldn't it just be easier to go to Radio Shack, drop $2.00 on a couple of ferrites and clamp them on yourself?

    bluetooth head set/ any concerns?

Nope. Just a fat cord. Take the mic casing, make it about twice as big on all sides, put one on the cord just behind the plug and one less than 1/2" (or 1cm) from the base of the earpiece and you'll get some idea of what's needed to isolate the RF from your head using that headset.

    bluetooth head set/ any concerns?

LOL! I'll take that deal. Let me know when that modified headset gets too heavy. I'll sell your BT back to you cheap. :)

    Is Vista worth it?

...for the ignorant masses who have been content to plod along using MS mediocreware. The rest of us with more than even half a clue have had this functionality all along, using freeware no less. Are you saying we don't have this now in Win2K and XP? Or that the ignorant masses haven't been led...

    bluetooth head set/ any concerns?

As an RF engineer with access to some of the most sophisticated test equipment in the world, I can say beyond any doubt the RF conduction to the earpiece of a standard wired headset is far greater than the emmission of any BT headset by a magnitude of at least 30, UNLESS wired headset makers...

    bluetooth head set/ any concerns?

Before you all whip yourselves into a frenzy, consider this. Internationally recognized safety standards for long term exposure to microwave radiation start to raise concerns around the 100mW power level. Certainly, placing a 600mW cell phone directly against your head in service for long...

    bluetooth head set/ any concerns?

Don't sell your BT headset just yet. There's one small thing being overlooked here. The maximum output power of a typical cell phone is 600 milliwatts, range several miles. The maximum output of a typical bluetooth headset is measured in microwatts, range 30 feet. You do the math.
