Instead of trying to block from your outlook express, go to the hotmail site, view your messages from there. There is now a facility to block messages from there which you can't do in outlook express. If you get any more messages in outlook hotmail account go to the site and blocke them from there.

I had the same problem. Did you install whilst your older version of messenger was running. Even though it tells you to close it before download commences I think the fact that it is running may cause a problem. When I downloaded the thing kept crashing and was not stable at all. I Uninstalled...

If you have tweak ui, open it, click on general, scroll down the menu and uncheck the box that says show windows version on desktop. That should get rid of it
