Quicken 2010 still doesn't allow backing up to cdrw/dvdrw directly they claim they are working on a fix but that was several months ago when i talked to them. They recommend that you backup to a usb drive or directly to the hard-drive then copy to the rw disk. the incd program still doesn't help...
sounds like an old compaq i had 1 partition for recovery files another for the drivers and assorted junk they install then c for the windows system itself
you have to enable the administrator account(disabled by default) because the user has not enough rights even if you have admin rights.after enabling admin account log out of user log into admin make changes to files then log out of admin and back to user part of microsoft's security with vista...
sounds like a driver issue to me type in run box msconfig do a diagnostic startup this should load the machine like safe mode if the machine boots fine this way then type msconfig again then startup tab uncheck everything reboot the system if this boots properly then put a check mark back in...

been running it for 2 days now.everything seems to function properly so far.the only things that seem to be it is slow upon start-up then it goes normally.some pages do not display right but you switch to compatability mode and they work just fine.i am playing with the inprivate part...
best i can remember they had this problem before sp3 it has something to do with windows update check microsoft's web site or other sources for the info on how to fix this if i have time later i will try to find the info

1->Boot from Live CD/DVD
2->Install In Dual Boot Configuration
3->Use Spare Hard Drive To Install
4->Install As Main Operating System
Personally I Use Option 1 Until I Make Sure I Like The Particular Distro
