I ama system engineer, mostly for HP. I ordered for a customer what was supposed to be a dual controller fas2020. They set it up, and has no second controller. My NetApp knowledge is very limited. my distributor somehow changed the config to a single without informing me of the change.

I did that and got ran around in circles. Thanks for the help.

Does anyone happen to know what all the physical differences are between a single controller and a dual controller? Is there a way to tell from a part number on an invoice if it should have single or dual? Thank You

what works for me well on my home network, is having the admin password the same on both machines. That always gave me the least amount of problems on my own network.

You have very valid points. I should have clarified. The password reset will not be on the server, but a bootable cd that a top level person will have. With raid, they need to be the same drives. I am thinking of just a small drive with like say XP Pro on it to be able to boot to to access the...

I am aware of RAID, but not every server uses it. Actually only about 10% of the requests I receive have RAID. I do think it is good to be able to burn an ISO image just incase. Password reset for if the only admin of the server becomes unavailable, or shuts down the server. Boot back up...
